Having someone to share your stories with and learn from is essential.
Because of donations from Manitobans, a variety of support groups are available for people living with lung disease, including:
- Manitoba Quits - A Facebook support group page to help you quit smoking. Anyone can join. You can also click here for our online resources or connect with our Tobacco Reduction Coordinator, Anjie Valgardson, by emailing her or calling 204-774-5501.
Manitoba Lung Transplant Education and Support Group - This support group meets regularly in our office. There is also a Facebook support group page. The meetings and the Facebook page are only open to those the lung transplant team has accepted for assessment, are waiting for a transplant, or have had a transplant. Pulmonary Rehabilitation -
Winnipeg and Area - The Winnipeg Regional Health Authority offers a support program for people affected by chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), emphysema, chronic bronchitis, and pulmonary fibrosis. Please click here for more information.
Brandon and Area - The Prairie Mountain Health have a Lung Health Clinic; please call them at 204-578-4203 for information on their programs, including their Lung Health Exercise Classes and Pulmonary Rehabilitation Support Group.
