  1. Who supports the Lung Association?

    Most of the donations come from individuals throughout Manitoba. Last year, 11,000 people made a donation! Money also comes from the Government of Manitoba to help us run programs to help people quit smoking. And finally, we receive some money from corporations, foundations, and the Government of Canada.

  2. How do I find out more about COPD?

    You can call the Lung Health Helpline at 1.866.717.2673. This free service is made possible because of the generosity of donors.

    A certified respiratory educator will be happy to help you.

  3. Do you accept interns and practicum students?

    Yes! If you’re looking for work experience, send us a note and we’ll see if we can help. We’re always looking for students with a lot of passion and skills in the areas of communications, events, administration and social media.   4. Does my donation make a difference?

    Yes! Your donation makes it possible for us to offer programs and services like the Lung Health helpline, Manitoba Quits, research,and a support groups.

  6. What is Radon?

    Radon is an invisible, odorless gas that can seep into your home through cracks in floors, walls, and foundations. You can't see, smell or taste it. Radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer in Canada. Radon exposure is estimated to be the cause of 16% of lung cancers.Thankfully, you can purchase a home testing kit for only $29.99 by going to the Radon testing section of our website.

  7. Why is the Tulip our flower?

    Volunteers have been selling Tulips for the Lung Association since 1999. The Tulip is our flower of choice because of its beauty and scent-free qualities.

  8. What can I do to help?

    There are many things you can do to show your support for people living with lung disease. You can donate. You can volunteer to help in our office. You can organize a fundraiser. You can follow us on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. Just give us a call at 204.774.5501 or send us an email here

  9. Naming the Manitoba Lung Association as a beneficiary in your will is a meaningful way for you to make a difference in the world beyond your lifetime. Your gift can help fund important programs to support people who want to breathe easier.

    Getting the wording correct is important. If you choose to leave a specific amount in your will to the Manitoba Lung Association, here is the wording:

    “I direct my Trustees to pay or transfer the sum of $_____ to the Manitoba Lung Association (a division of the Sanatorium Board of Manitoba) to be used for the Manitoba Lung Association’s general purposes as its directors see fit. The charitable registration number for The Manitoba Lung Association is 107952798 RR0001.”

    OR, if you would like to leave a portion of your estate to the Manitoba Lung Association after all debts and specific bequests to loved ones are made, here is the wording:

    “I direct my Trustees to pay or transfer all (or a stated percentage) of the rest, residue and remainder of my estate the Manitoba Lung Association (a division of the Sanatorium Board of Manitoba) to be used for the Manitoba Lung Association’s general purposes as its directors see fit. The charitable registration number for The Manitoba Lung Association is 107952798 RR0001.”
